2015 Demo by BIND

//2015 Demo||Bind\\
1. No Justice
2. Capital Punishment
3. Hands of the Priest
4. American Discipline

American hardcore is getting more and more heavy as the years go on, but a lot of it seems to be losing the actual anger that tr00 hardcore embodies. The 2015 Demo by Bind combines the new age chug-a -chug-as with the ever loved d-beat, two step, bust it parts that every hardcore release really needs. Not even all the way through the first track and I was hooked and wanting to hear more. This release picks up the energy and never lets go, slaying like no other. I feel like 2015 was a good year for hardcore that isn't transitioning to that "Not beatdown" beatdown metalcore stuff, and this is a release that needs to be checked out.

When Skies Are Gray by When Skies Are Gray

/when skies are gray by when skies are gray\
1. Her face in the grass
2. We passed each other quietly
3. Wayfarer
4. Bloodletting
5. The widows walk
6. The things I once cherished, now indiferrent
7. Subdue and consume
8. The tundra of my heart, my tired frozen heart
9. It's certain that I'm dying
10. Renoir, 1920

Dark emo violence// melodic emo pop punk outfit, When Skies Are Gray, shows off it's gritty, teeth grinding emotion that brings your blood to a depressing boil. The cathartic yelling over catchy emo Pop punk instruments smash your face while the melodic, soothing instrumentals make your head away back and fourth. I can see this as something I can come back to over and over again.

Everything beautiful is gone
Woah there grab your sing along pen and write in your diaries, because this shit makes you wanna think about how shitty things are while at the same time thinking about how much you don't care when really maybe things aren't 100% bad but you don't think about that because you're listening to this guy say everything you're thinking but because you aren't good at putting into words what you're thinking the way you want to, you can't say, you'll go post these lyrics on Twitter and tumblr and others will feel what you're saying  but will have no idea what you're talking about//referencing so people will think you're deep and you'll get that cool girl/guy you've had a crush on forever to think maybe you aren't just another SnapBack wearing fuck boy so you guys will date and things will be great at first but after a few months things will go south and you'll start listening to that basement album but you feel so much about her and also hate being alone so you'll stay together and be in a toxic relationship that doesn't help either of you so you'll get with some of your friend and make a band when you guys break up and try to make it sound like this album but you'll realize when skies are gray is too good of a band to recreate and also your drummer probably sucks a lot so rinse and repeat.

Anyway, this album is really really great and it was released through mayfly records so check that out, good label and I would love to see these guys live and you should get this album.

Flowers in D-Minor (Nirvana Cover Songs) by Bleed The Pigs

Flowers In D Minor by Bleed The Pigs
Covers songs:
1. Drowner
2. Endless Nameless.
Bleed the Pigs
Flowers in D Minor (Nirvana Covers)
Bleed the pigs is a really cool punk/skramz band, and their two song release is their own spin on some Nirvana songs. Female vocalist holds high ends of vocals well, but her lows are p dank too. The release clocks in at over 6 minutes, the first song is not even two and the second is super long as far as punk music goes. The songs still hold some aspects of their Nirvana originals, but not enough to make me think that this is just another nirvana cover band. I used to make fun of bands that do stupid covers from bands that are overdone but the way these guys does it is super cool. Mixing reminds me of old skramzy type recordings, and the constant sound of noise is reminiscent of shoegaze music. This release is a headbanger, and really more along the lines of a novelty. If you don't listen to Nirvana, like me, you won't even know that it's a nirvana cover, because you've probably not heard these two songs. I had to go listen to the original songs just to see how different they would be, and it gave me a new respect for the band.
I think it's cool, and it's nice to see that they didn't go crazy and release a giant record of covers. Also very very nice to see that they put their own spin to the covers. Nothing more upsetting than having to listen to your local band play that same old blink 182 song everytime you get put onto a show with them or something. Anywho, check it out.

14. We're One-Eyed Doll

Background
One-Eyed Doll is a duo based in Austin, Texas consisting of guitarist and singer Kimberly Freeman, and live drummer, bassist, keyboardist and producer Jason Rufuss Sewell (Aka "Junior"). Paul Evans handles drums in the recordings on this album, and bass live. "Monster" is their second album released in 2008, and was re-released and remastered five years later under the title "Monster (Remonstered)."
Kimberly Freeman is an extremely interesting woman. I feel like I have to talk about her life before I talk about the album. She grew up in Oregon, and does not do drugs, in fact she barely drinks coffee. She makes most of the merch by hand. When you buy a shirt from them, you're buying a piece of her work. For a lot of their career they couldn't afford to well... buy anything. She was homeless. She would use whatever she could find to make merch- old tee shirts she found on the streets and bleached the logo on (She washed them after she sold them of course), jeans to be made into patches- and the DIY attitude and level of personal relationship she has with her fans is absolutely astonishing. There's a documentary on them about all of this that you can find here. It's quite amazing to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T9rYRX0EWI

Now, about the album itself
The album starts with a live recording of the singer introducing the band. The audience's reaction is pretty funny, she introduces the musician, and they say "Hi ______" really enthusiastically, almost like you would hear a classroom introducing a new student. Immediately, it jumps into "Be My Friend," the album's single, and really showcases the band's combination of very serious topics with comedy. She's singing about killing people with a very happy, smiley voice. Also, there is a banjo sample which plays occasionally throughout the song. The next song features some synths after the clean intro. It's interesting because takes a break from the very preppy voice. "UFO" gets stuck in my head a lot, and is one of the heaviest songs on the album. "Bulimia" features lyrics like "There is snot in my macaroni, it's salty." This is one of the few songs I get choked up about, despite the playful lyrics and her preppy voice, because it reminds me of how many people are going through this, and I just start thinking about how much it ruins people's bodies. "Roses" is about a situation after a show where a group of guys started telling Kimberly to "bend over." She replied by breaking a vase of roses she was holding over their heads. The next two songs I have nothing to say other than the fact that they're absolutely awesome. "Pretty Song" is an acoustic. "Pao" is a song entirely in Mandarin Chinese, a language Kimberley is fluent in. "Monster" is an almost 8 minute epic, written by a very young Kimberley. One of the few songs that gives me the chills. "Ramblings of the Ungodly" is an acoustic. "I am a Viking" features entirely synth instruments, and though I'm not usually a fan of them, it works pretty well for the song. The last song, "We're One-Eyed Doll" is pretty much the intro, just strung out, has guitars, and the gang vocals aren't live. It's interesting that she refers to herself as "Kimberly," Junior, the drummer as "A drummer."

Overview
I recommend this to everybody, especially girls.
9.4/10
Favorite song: "Be My Friend," for the lyrics "Serial killers are people too, if you take away the voices, I'm just like you." It shows how anybody can be whoever they want to be.
