Delivering some of the best grind/metallic-hardcore you'll find in the area, Crux's release, deepest pain i've ever felt is short, sweet, and to the point. With crushing riffs throughout and cathartic vocals, this release is one you'll have to listen to more than once. Give it a shot

So I've been praying for a Hit Home full length since I first hit play on Happily Ever... This band is just beyond good. The songwriting ability of these guys is ridiculous. How can an album be so dramatically sad sounding yet so beautiful and inspiring and poetic at the same time? Guitars dance over struggling vocals, dizziness inducing drum patterns, and some of the best bass lines out there. This band just frustrates me beyond belief because they're just so good. If I could name two bands that have made me who I am today, they would be Roof Doctor and this fucking band. 

Also I'll add that it was super freaking cool to hear a new slightly different rendition of "Unsunset" which is from their split with Buttons and Mindy. (Those strumming patterns at 3:05 just make me shiver and smile) 

Check this god damn band out for the love of the god damn band.

One time I was scheduled to play a show with Hit home in Saint louis and for about a month I was beyond freaked out at the thought that I'd get to play with my favorite band. But sadly they had to drop because of some issue.

Roof Doctor is probably the band that has developed me as a person the most emotionally, so seeing that they dropped a new release brought a long overdue smile to my face. Roof Doctor is the kind of band that you just want to lay down and die to, and if you've been around since the beginning of this band, you'll be as excited about this release as about all of the others. Not sure why PA has so many good bands. It seems so many good/great bands just congregate in a few areas. PA, Chicago, all of Texas, etc. 

Anyway.

Mark's vocals/lyrical ability has matured amazingly, and the band is almost completely reinvented from it's last releases. Breaking the trend of redoing an old song, My Band brings to the table 6 amazing new songs. So check these songs out, I can't even stress how amazing they are. This band has just never disappointed me and I'm so happy that they exist. The album is currently up for $4, and I'm going to make sure I get it whenever I get a chance, but as always you can stream the album on their bandcamp. Please check this amazing band out.

Post-hardcore/Emotional Hardcore OKC band Junfalls' first release, (See title above), is a quick five song ep release that's chock full of good shit.
If you wanted to relate this to a main-stream band you could relate it to Defeater, but I'd rather listen to Junfalls any day than Defeater. Sick bass lines coupled with great song writing makes this a release that you'll start over after hearing it the first time. And this band isn't even that old so keep watching for more to come.

You guessed it, Out of Step is an 80's throwback punk band who's catchy riffs you'll have stuck in your head nonstop. The entire thing is a banger, with Tooth Decay being the song with the most memorable parts. (That bass line/two step) So tuck the keys hanging off your belt loop into your back

pocket and try not to hit the crust punks when you stage dive because they'll threaten to kill you.

Tender chord progressions and amazing melodies make up this beautiful release by this PA. band. 

(PA has so many good bands it's dumb). The 8 songs are reminiscent of that slow beautiful twinkly emo that everyone can get behind. Not a single song here is bad, so download it and start jamming, the perfect kind of songs to throw onto a mixtape for that special someone who won't care about you come next June.

     American hardcore is getting more and more heavy as the years go on, but a lot of it seems to be losing the actual anger that tr00 hardcore embodies. The 2015 Demo by Bind combines the new age chug-a -chug-as with the ever loved d-beat, two step, bust it parts that every hardcore release really needs. Not even all the way through the first track and I was hooked and wanting to hear more. This release picks up the energy and never lets go, slaying like no other. I feel like 2015 was a good year for hardcore that isn't transitioning to that "Not beatdown" beatdown metalcore stuff, and this is a release that needs to be checked out. 

"One Nation, Under God, with the Police above the law"

If you like bands like Iron Born, Sold Short, and Vulgar Display, you'll like this release.

Crashing drums, flowing guitar, and dark basslines make up Unborn, by Glasir. This three song release clocks in at over 22 minutes, and the band throws repetitive, mind-dulling song structure, into what could quite possibly be the most melancholy sound a group of people can make. These instrumental tracks give a feeling of finality to the listener, and the dark and growing song songs are
definitely something anyone who is a fan of the genre could get into. The final track, "Into the Void" is the paramount of the release, giving a good sense of a closing that makes you want to start the entire trip over again. While usually I would get bored of a release that seems to never end, what is going for works so well, and is so listenable, I would recommend this to anyone looking for new music. Being able to display amazing emotions without words has always been what can make or break an instrumental band, and Glasir 100% knows how to make it. You can download this release for Free of their bandcamp, but if you like it, I would throw some $$$ their way. I can't wait to hear more from this band.

Dark emo violence// melodic emo pop punk outfit, When Skies Are Gray, shows off it's gritty, teeth grinding emotion that brings your blood to a depressing boil. The cathartic yelling over catchy emo Pop punk instruments smash your face while the melodic, soothing instrumentals make your head away back and fourth. I can see this as something I can come back to over and over again.

Woah there grab your sing along pen and write in your diaries, because this shit makes you wanna think about how shitty things are while at the same time thinking about how much you don't care when really maybe things aren't 100% bad but you don't think about that because you're listening to this guy say everything you're thinking but because you aren't good at putting into words what you're thinking the way you want to, you can't say, you'll go post these lyrics on Twitter and tumblr and others will feel what you're saying  but will have no idea what you're talking about//referencing so people will think you're deep and you'll get that cool girl/guy you've had a crush on forever to think maybe you aren't just another SnapBack wearing fuck boy so you guys will date and things will be great at first but after a few months things will go south and you'll start listening to that basement album but you feel so much about her and also hate being alone so you'll stay together and be in a toxic relationship that doesn't help either of you so you'll get with some of your friend and make a band when you guys break up and try to make it sound like this album but you'll realize when skies are gray is too good of a band to recreate and also your drummer probably sucks a lot so rinse and repeat. 

Anyway, this album is really really great and it was released through mayfly records so check that out, good label and I would love to see these guys live and you should get this album.

Hey guys it's been a while seems like just yesterday it was winter and I paid more attention to music in the scene so lets try our hand at this here we go:

2012 release from the math rock band Invalids is chock full of guitar tapping, time signature changes, and other cool things that will make fans of the genre ooze with ridiculous tunings. Production is hella tight and song length is long enough to make this release the time length of about 420 emo releases or 666 youth crew 2011 demos. Here is a playbook replay of each and every single song without me leaving out any of them:

Farmhouse Sessions by Those Dirty Eyes

Grab a beer and ruffle your beard, delta blues boys Those Dirty Eyes just released Farmhouse Sessions, which was in fact, recorded in a farmhouse. Listening to these five songs makes me think of the title sequence to some B-rate tv show about detectives in the swamplands. A two piece band, guitars are filled with slides, bends, and heavy distortion. Drums are heavy and hard-hitting, and vocals (Both members) are cathartic; not yelling but strained, raspy singing. Exactly the kind of vocals delta blues music should have.
There is a lo-fi aspect to the music, and that's okay because it fits the band perfectly. I don't think they would sound the same if they went and recorded in some high-quality studio. It's a quick release, and
just something to pop in and listen to, so check it out.

Interview with 417 band, Ritual

I got to talk with front man Kyle Roller of the new 417 Metallic Hardcore band, Ritual, who just released their Demo, Nascentes Morimur. The album, which is reminiscent of 90's dad metal, is a five track release filled with anger and spit. The band, which I had the pleasure of watching at a recent show, is well put together and has a great live sound which puts it on my radar as a must watch band for 2015.

First off, I really really dig the sound, you guys are great and I loved seeing you live at the recent Homewrecker show. How long have you guys been a band?

Well I actually am not an original member. After surrender decided they were done Tyler and Tanner decided to play around with some other sounds and jammed a lot winter of last year with some other guys. When the drummer they had wasn't working out tanner hit me up to play drums and that was probably August or September of this year. We added Cole and JD when we finally started getting asked to play gigs regularly in probably October or September

What are some influences on your music?

Turmoil, Disembodied, Bloodlet are probably the three biggest ones but we draw inspiration from all over. Chokehold, Stigmata, Earth Crisis, VOD are all bands we love to draw inspiration from even if it's not present stylistically... If that makes any sense.

I saw that you guys recently played down in Texas, how was that? I know that Texas has an amazing hardcore scene, and it's really cool that you guys got to play down there.

DFW hardcore is so awesome. We played an awesome fest for an awesome cause and had an absolute blast. We got a great reaction and got a lot of really great feedback. There are videos from almost every set that weekend and they are all so sick.

So I heard you guys have a split coming up, who is it with and when is it coming out? of life from the DFW area. It should be out somewhere between now and this summer.

Any cool shows coming up?

So Old State is a band that I've played with, from Saint Louis, and I just got their CD in the mail along with a bunch of other stuff, and decided I'd give it a listen. This cd reminds me a lot of that one Have Mercy Song about Hair. Title fight reminiscent. But like. Obviously title fight reminiscent. Like hey you ever heard Old State? Yeah I love Title Fight and That Hair song's offspring baby. But anyway I digress. The music is good, and it's something that you should check out. It's not fast enough to consist of stage dives but honestly it's just like pop punk music so I get that.
I like D-beats as much as the next guy, all bands should D beat forever but eventually you just end up hearing the same song over and over and over and over and over and oh there it is again and oops some d-beats sick. But all jokes aside this is just one of those good olde fashioned emo-pop punk releases. It's really kind of good, and something that you should check out.

Arkansas band Nouns released Still a while back, and this is a quick look at what is one of the more notable releases of 2014. After Still Bummed, their first major release, the band had a lot to live up to, and they met the bar and just raised it higher. With personal lyrics, wonderful sound through hi end lo-fi recordings, and great vocal types, this band throws a wide variety of indie space-rock/emo music into the world. The twelve songs each hold a personal feeling, meaning that there is not a dull moment on this release that incorporates so much sound. In all 12 of the songs, the overall vibe is a more spacey/withdrawn/ghost like vibe that really sounds amazing. Vocals are removed in the release in most parts, and I think that the recording style fits the music so well. This is a release that you need to check out, it's one everyone needs to listen to.

Gary, Indiana metallic hardcore band Corkscrew's newest release, Path To Hell, is 14 minutes of pure hell. Released on Work Ethic Records, back in December, Corkscrew throws themselves into the light by showing just what they're capable of. Each track is filled with anger, Derick's vocal range and the band's musical talent keeping the listener under their trance the entire time. Metal-c0re aspects can be seen in songs such as "Abhorrence", and catchy guitar riffs are found throughout. The songwriting ability of those in corkscrew is found in the smallest parts of these songs, from the guitar solo in "Path to Hell" to the ridiculous beatdown breakdown in "Abhorrence". So check  this out, and order the cassette off of Work Ethic. This guys are great.
